LUPUS THE DOG

LUPUS THE DOG is Ren's new blog. Lupus was our tour mascot. We travelled him around like a garden gnome, documenting his existence in various locations around the US. I don't know how Ren will feel about him into stumbling into various pop culture moments, but what can I say.. this dog gets around.

LAYING DOWN LIKE A BLOODY CORPSE

"When I heard about planking, I thought, that it was gonna be something facinating. I click on this shit and I'm seeing all these pictures of these motherfuckers just laying on the ground..." - @kingsleyyy

SPRING TURNED INTO SUMMER?!?

To say I've been overwhelmed by my experiences and the massive amount of documentation I voluntarily created and now have to present is a decent sized understatement. I really don't know how other people with blogs do it. Things just are how they are.

This has been an eye-opening year for me. On one level, there is pure joy and enlightenment. My music is mystical at the moment. A true tangible talisman of my blood, sweat, and tears (literally). It is the blood pumping through my veins as well as my connection to the world outside my head. (ie. real life) Lately I've felt the only way to convey my thoughts, dreams, hopes, fears and have them feel completely real and valid is though my art/music. This last trip to Europe left me wanting more out of life. In a way I've never felt before. One reason why I haven't written any personal / documentary posts recently is because I've been having the most difficult time finding a way to describe what is going on with me in a medium that doesn't seem too abstract.

MEMORIAL DAY 2000

WFMU recently did a post reminiscing about the video known as MEMORIAL DAY 2000. I was first shown a copy of this video on VHS by my good friend Newton way back in 2003. At the time, I was living on his couch in Bensalem, PA. I was jobless (having just graduated from art school) with a permanent question mark looming over my head regarding my life, my art, my music, and my purpose in any of it. I'm pretty sure I watched this video about 3 dozen times, sneaking it out while he was at work to watch people just GIVE IN to temptation with no inhibitions or care for consequences at all, or for that matter, for any real purpose (artistic or otherwise) except to get FUCKED UP.

RANDOM FOR ALL ETERNITY

So... I've got new posts that will be bubbling over with videos and photos and all kinds of madness shit, as soon as I'm done throwing it all on the web nets.

In the meantime, let's all take a look back at what can only be described as the weirdest fest ever to be attempted, performed, and attended... Can you believe we did this??

AMSTERDAM

Ren and I flew into Amsterdam yesterday. After many unsuccessful attempts to use a pay phone here, and a few hours wait at a bus stop, I finally managed to find an open WiFi connection and sent our friends an email to come pick us up. A few beers later we headed downtown to see our friends Emeralds who happened to be playing a fest in town as well. Of course everyone was in a classic coffee shop daze. Many YouTube videos involving petting giraffes, a sax playing walrus, and DC Talk covers were watched backstage while drinking European Budweisers. We went out to eat and by accident I walked into an all male spa and sauna house. Saw a fuck ton of penis. On the walk back, John got accosted by a couple bums playing accordion and harmonica. Classic, for sure. Later in the  night Emeralds played a sick set, debunking the standard local lore that every foreign band who plays here is always so fucked up that amazing sets are somewhat rare. They brought down the house. So good. Tonight Ren and I start our own tour with Laser Poodle in LIEGE, Belgium. Fuck! I can't wait to see Cybele!

**this is my first attempt at using mobile Blogger on the Droid so we will see how this goes... big ups for open WiFi. YESSS

Do you know about this band?

They are part noise, A LOT performance. Really weird, out there ideas.

LE VENERDÌ MIXTAPE VOL. 19 - PUFF MUTT MIXTAPE by UNICORN HARD-ON

noodlepoodle

A few months ago, I was asked to make a mixtape for Vice Italy. Today was it's unveiling.

If you aren't fluent in Italian (my grandparents would not be proud) here is an excerpt from Google Translator which is pretty wacky as far as translations go, (it even translated my last name, which is Italian!) but, hey, it tried:

Besides being a wonderful combination of words, in every way possible, Unicorn Hard-on and, specifically, the name of art by Val Martin, a young musician industrial-electro-noise-but-who-makes-you-dance by red hair from Nashville, Tennessee. And her name makes me want to use a lot of exclamation points!

The article is pretty awesome, they even mention Rat Bastard, the Laundry Room Squelchers, and my girls Leslie Keffer and Liz Armstrong. You can check out the rest here and have a listen below!

Miami International Noise Conference 2011 - EPIC BLOG POST

This is the first thing I saw when we got to Rat's place in South Beach. I knew we were in DEEP.

DSC_0231

But before we dive in, I have to share a tip with you. If you are coming from Sarasota (or anywhere from west coast Florida), and heading to Miami, you GOTTA go the Tamiami Trail, which is US 41 / FL 90. Its the best way to go by vehicle. So epically superior to the boring old Alligator Alley I-75, trust me. You do see alligators and cranes and such on 75, but not like on the Tamiami. Plus, there are great rest areas where you can literally walk up to the damn gators. (yes, there is a fence between us, I'm no wildabeast)

That's just about everything I got. You can snoop the whole set over at my flickr.

I wish I could capture more! I never get to film Leslie Keffer or Sharkiface's sets because I am always setting up while they are performing, and there are tons more that I just couldn't get, whether I was too far away, or taking a break from watching bands. The real problem with INC is that it really is a challenge, and maybe more like virtually impossible to see every single band, whether you want to or not.

I'm not going to write up a proper review of this year's fest. You can read Noisebloid's blog post here, and watch more INC videos here, and here! Also, check out MP's videos at his youtube. He has tons of sick videos in general!
